Projected to exceed box office forecasts in its debut weekend, director Ryan Coogler‘s Sinnersdelivered one of the best Thursday preview hauls for an original horror film. Sinners is Coogler’s first non-IP film since his debut feature, Fruitvale Station, which opened over a decade ago and launched the career of star Michael B. Jordan. Coogler has worked with Jordan on every subsequent project, and reunited with him on Sinners, in which the star plays a dual role. The movie opened to excellent reviews, and is expected to continue the positive momentum for Warner Bros. that A Minecraft Movie started a couple of weeks ago.
